Universities Deadlines in Australia for Nigerian Students
Generally, universities in Australia offer three different deadlines and intake options. Nigerian students can select a course based on their choices and the availability of the course. The following are the intake options available at Australian Universities:
Deadline for February Intake
University | Application Deadline 2022 | Application Deadline 2023 |
University of Sydney | 15th-31st January | 15th January |
Monash University | Rolling Deadline | March |
University of Melbourne | 30th November (Previous year) | Monday, 31 October 2022 |
University of Canberra | 1st December | 17 January 2023 |
University of Queensland | 30th November (Previous year) | 30th November (Previous year) |

University of Technology, Sydney | 31st August (Previous year) | Yet to be announced |
University of New England | N/A | 28 February 2023 |
University of New South Wales | N/A | 30 November |
This intake has several good programs provided by Australian institutions and is one of the preferred intakes for international students. The number of available admission seats is obviously less than the July intake, but fewer seats also mean less competition because the number of applications is lower.
This intake is well-known because specific programs at certain universities are only available during this intake. The majority of courses for the February intake have an application deadline between September and January. If you fail to get your desired course or university, you can always wait for the next intake.

As previously stated, the February intake has a smaller number of admission seats, and most international students prefer the July intake. There are far more seats available in this intake than in any other.
You will have a far greater selection of courses to choose from at different universities in the July intake. The July intake is favored since it allows students to take the standardized test (GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL, etc.) that is required for the course.
You can take the exams from December to January because degree programs in Nigeria are often concluded in May-June. It allows students plenty of time to prepare for the standardized test and receive their results well before the application deadlines.
So, you have complete freedom to select a course of your choice, and if you do not get admission to the chosen course, you may always enroll in the November intake. However, unless there are any complications on your end, most students are usually admitted in the July intake.
Deadline for November Intake for Nigerian Students
This is one of the least popular options for international students. Some Australian universities have only a number of seats open that are not filled. However, if you want to study something that is unique and not sought after by most students, this intake can be quite beneficial to you. Some universities, such as Monash University, have rolling application deadlines. There are also other universities that accept applications all year. If you are accepted into a course of your choosing at one of these schools, you should definitely proceed with the admissions process.
In addition, one of the best things about the November intake is that if you receive a course of your choosing, you are extremely likely to be selected in the admission procedure if you match the entrance standards. As a result, it is recommended that you check the university websites offering admission in the November intake, as you may be able to get into a course of your choice without any problem or waiting in the peak admission session.
