What are the Canadian visa types in Nigeria?
Now, before you pay for a Canadian visa, you want to be sure that you are applying for the right one; hence I will briefly go over the different types of Canadian visas here. Otherwise, if you know which visa category to apply for, proceed to the next page below.
There are majorly four types of Canada visa fees, and these visa types are mostly patronized by Nigerian citizens.
- Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa)
- Student Visa
- Work Visa
- Canada Permanent Residence visa
Canada Visitor Visa
A visitor visa (sometimes known as a temporary resident visa) is an official document required for Nigerians who wish to travel to and enter Canada as a visitor for up to six months. If you are going for leisure or visiting a loved one, this type of visa is for you.
Canada Student Visa

Canada Work Visa
For those applying for a Canadian visa that involves working on a temporary or permanent basis, your visa application will be different from the visitor’s visa. This visa is divided into several types. These include Federal Skilled Worker Visa, Temporary Work Permit, and Canadian Experience Class Visa.
Canada Permanent Residence visa

How Much is Canada Visa Application Fee in Nigeria?
Now that you have learned about the various types of visas, let’s look at the cost of a Canadian visa application fee in Nigeria. To calculate the visa fees, I would use the Canadian Dollar (CAD) to CBN rates, which, at the time of writing this article, was worth 549.41 Naira.
1. Canada Visitor Visa Fee (Temporary Resident Visa)

4. Canada Permanent Residence visa fee (Express Entry)
The cost of permanent residence varies from program to program and is determined by the immigration stream you are applying for.
You should note that once your application is approved, you will be asked to pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee (RPRF), which is a separate fee that must be paid by all approved applicants, regardless of whatever program they apply under.

How to pay Canada visa fee in Nigeria
Payment for the Canadian visa can be made either online or in person. But you will need to be careful because if you pay the wrong fees or do not use one of the methods specified below, the IRCC will reject your application without processing it. And once they start processing, they can’t refund your fees.
You can make payment using any of the methods below:
1. Online Payment via the IRCC website
If you are looking to pay your visa fee using the online method, you should pay it directly through the online application (e-app) or payment platform, where you can use your debit or credit card to pay the equivalent in Naira. This is the only way you can pay for your visa fee when applying online.
Remember that you must use a Master’s or a Visa card; if you do not have either of these cards or trust no one to do it for you, consider using another method below.
2. Pay at the Canadian Visa Application Center
You can pay at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Lagos and Abuja only. The centre charges a fee for services that help you apply. Don’t forget to go to their office with all the required documents to apply and pay for the application. They are open between Monday to Friday from 8 am-3 pm.
